Rod
Edwards, born in San Francisco, began pursuing his artistic interest
at a young age encouraged by his mother, Eloise Edwards, an outstanding
portrait painter. At the Scottsdale Artist School he studied with
noted artists David A. Leffel and Ray Vanella learning the techniques
that would form his work.
After living in the San Fernando Valley,
he moved north to a small town called Newhall. Once there he found
himself drawn to the landscape. “The more I painted the landscape,
the more I love it”. He says “I first look for the abstract
shapes and patterns and then the light and dark areas. The Santa
Clarita Valley with its oak trees, canyons and hills make for ideal
settings.”
Rod can usually be found rushing to capture
the first or last light of the day, which he calls the “golden
time”.
