About
An
artistic journey, by three Santa Clarita Valley artists (Laura Wambsgans,
Rod Edwards & Lorelle Miller) historically documents the natural
areas of the valley in a series of paintings.
The
birth of this project stems from a small book titled “The
Art Of Travel” by Alain de Botton. De Botton explains that
until visitors to the French countryside had viewed Vincent van
Goghs paintings of Provence, they were unable to appreciate the
cypress trees, olive trees and exquisite colors of the countryside.
The paintings in fact opened their eyes, enabling them to see as
the artist, to notice the ferocity of the olive trees branches that
had previously seemed so ordinary.
As
artists and residence of the Santa Clarita Valley we have been painting
the oak trees, canyons and streams for many years, appreciating
this valley more with each painting. The lighting, colors and vistas
in this valley are so stunningly gorgeous that we find ourselves
captive to our easels. By bringing these paintings together our
goal is to have viewers discover a new appreciation for the untouched
landscape of the Santa Clarita Valley.
