Day 2: Orrison to Roncesvalles

18 km (phone says 23.6 km total for the day)

September 18, 2018

Sunrise and view from Orrison

Breakfast was a bowl of coffee, toast, and butter but so much better then it sounds because I was in France. I set off about 8 and got to Roncesvalles around 3. The day was very enjoyable as I loved walking by all the animals and hearing their bells clang. Lunch was a ham cheese baguette I had bought at Orisson with the best tasting can of Coke I got at the food van parked near the top. I was worried about finding the albergue in Roncesvalles but since the path lead right to the door there was no missing it. The hardest part of the day was standing in line to check in, and oh how I hope I can forget the smell in the shoe room someday. Pictures are better than words:

  1. The room looks nice and clean! Love the selfie!

    1. Room was clean but picture didn’t capture that there were at least 40 beds/people in the room so not so quiet!

  2. Cool passport 👣👣👣

    1. Thanks. It’s my pilgrim credential I have to show in Santiago to prove I walked it before I get a certificate (Compostela).
